ANTIQUITIES AND ASIAN ART PHOTOGRAPHY
I greatly respect and appreciate the results of creative impulse in human history, and create true-to-life photographs of individual works of art and art collections for insurance documentation, education, and aesthetic preservation - of asian and western art as sculpture, paintings, bronzes, sandstone, thangkas - using archival handling techniques that exemplify the care in my Antiquities and Asian Art Photography.

Due to my background in cabinet making and blacksmithing, I developed an eye for the patina that develops with aging through touch and use. I look to include that aspect of history in the pieces I photograph in my Antiquities and Asian Art Photography, while maintaining an overall respect for the imaging of the piece as a whole and handling with archival sensitivity in mind.

My gallery of 15 years provided me with the opportunity to learn and apply archival photograph processing techniques, as well as storage and handling methods that are considered optmium for working with Asian Art and other media used throughout the centuries.

In addition to photographing / documenting art pieces in private collections, I am also able to make modest assessments of the condition of the pieces and can examine them for signs of deterioration due to insects, or acid interaction that can occur from a variety of storage materials. In the process of doing so, I will always recommend acid-free storage materials, framing, boxes and containers. I do not charge extra for this service, and in the process of lighting and photographing a piece, have the opportunity to notice yellowing to due acid interaction or wood dust due to insect incursion.
